White Christmas in Lake Tahoe

Monday, December 28, 2015

We left LA on December 22 to drive up to Lake Tahoe for the holidays to spend Christmas with the Hackbarth family. We met Cory back in Australia when he came over to study for six months, Josh and Cory were in the same class together and shortly became good friends. We had planned to spend time together in LA when we moved over, but his family so kindly invited us up to Tahoe to spend Christmas with them (how could you say no to that offer!). So here we are, nestled into a cosy cabin home in Homewood, Tahoe where the fire is roaring, and the snow is falling.

I had never seen snow before in my life, neither had Josh and we were not disappointed. The scenery out here is stunning! The snow is so soft and powder like, I find it hard to believe it is real, instead just white sugar that has been poured everywhere. I love that most days when it is overcast, the only tones are white, and touches of wood from the trees or cabins. Other days, when the sun comes out to play, the lake is two-toned blue, the mountains reflect blue and the snow is Arctic white (we even got a little sunburnt from being outside!)

Found this vintage style ski suit at a Tahoe thrift store
We spend our days here either playing in the snow, sledding or watching the boys snowboard, then in a restaurant enjoying hot food, a drink and a game of pool.

The houses in Lake Tahoe are stunning!

With love from Tahoe,
